When was the last time you had a priceless moment? You know, something that was so special you still pinch yourself wondering if it really happened? This past weekend, I had the chance to take my 10 year old daughter, Amanda, to meet Alexandre Renoir, the great-grandson of the magnificent painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir. As part of MasterCard’s Priceless LA card-holder experience, we headed down to Beverly Hills to meet Renoir at Galerie Michael on Rodeo Drive.
I wasn’t born in Los Angeles. I didn’t grow up here. I’m not a West Coast girl by birth, but I’m definitely a West Coast girl by heart. I chose Los Angeles as my home… over 25 years ago. There is something incredibly special about this city and I love living here and experiencing all that this city has to offer. I’ve also been a MasterCard owner for as long as I’ve been old enough to have credit cards, and that little piece of plastic in my wallet is opening up opportunities for me and my family that can only be considered… Priceless.
I had never been to Galerie Michael before, but I had walked by it several times. The last time we walked by, I mentioned to my kids that we should go in one day and look around. Now we had the chance.
I grew up in a very artistic family. Both my mother and grandfather were painters so there were always canvases, paints and brushes around our house. Unfortunately, I didn’t pick up the drawing/painting talent, but my kids really love to paint, Amanda in particular. She was all kinds of excited to get to paint in an actual art gallery… and to meet a famous painter was the icing on the cake.
Alexandre definitely has a different style of painting than his famous great-grandfather, but it’s obvious to see the talent trickling down the generations. It reminded me of how the talent in my family started with my own grandfather and was passed to my mother and now to my own children. The day reminded me of how much I had been lacking as a parent in giving my children a better artistic foundation. I saw the artwork appreciation in my daughter’s eyes… and I was amazed at her ability to critique the art in such a logical way. I definitely need to take my kids to museums and art galleries more often.
Check out our entire experience on Google+ and then head over to the MasterCard Priceless LA website and check out all the incredible events you can be a part of if you are a MasterCard Credit Card holder. I just love living in Los Angeles and being a part of the MasterCard “In” crowd.
