There is something so perfect about ending your week at the beach.
Despite the fact that I live in California, I don’t really live anywhere near the shore. It takes me at least an hour to even get there from here, so we don’t just “hang out” at the beach very often. We really only go during the summer when the kids are out of school and we can avoid the weekend traffic by going during the week. If we time it just right, we can not only avoid the traffic, but also find a great parking spot. Unfortunately, today wasn’t one of those days. Something was going on at the beach we regularly go to, so we ended up down the coast a few miles over by the Carpenteria Tide Pools. A much smaller (and rockier) beach, we pretty much had it to ourselves most of the day.
The kids had fun with their boogie boards… and I had fun just doing nothing but sitting in my beach chair reading a book.
And while we were enjoying having most of the beach to ourselves, we realized we actually had some visitors.
