I love my job.
I get to write about amazing new places and products. I get to make incredible new friends and I get to go to some of the most glitzy and glamorous events. This weekend, I was invited to attend the Red Carpet Event at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles as part of the MasterCard Priceless Program. They didn’t have to ask me twice. This was one of those dreams I’ve had ever since I moved to LA 25 years ago. Just once, I wanted to be able to attend a red carpet event. Obviously, Los Angeles is full of them. The Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Emmys… and the Grammys. It’s one of those things that makes me love the city I live in. Although I’m not “OF” Hollywood (I don’t sing, act or direct), I love the fact that I can be “IN” Hollywood whenever I want. Seriously… a 30 minute drive and I’m there.
I was able to bring a guest and I knew immediately who I wanted by my side: my daughter Temera. Other than the fact that I needed her to tell me who half the singers were, I knew this would be a priceless experience for her. How many 13 year old girls get to see all their favorite singers in one place.
We got all dolled up and were ready to hit the carpet.
The Grammy Awards were held at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Since I’ve never been to an event like this, I had no idea really what to expect. Actually seeing the red carpet was pretty incredible. The multitude of satellite dishes was crazy. Security everywhere. I felt so incredibly special to be there.
Staples Center in Los Angeles
Papparazzi were everywhere and all the big TV magazine and news shows were there, all set up and ready for the celebrities to arrive. The red carpet was located underneath a huge white tent (good thing too because it rained a bit). All the way down the center of the tent were large crystal chandeliers that were just stunning.
You could feel the vibe in the air as people were scurrying around making sure everything was ready to go. We were shown to our seats… actually a set of bleachers at the far end of the tent where we had the perfect view of the photography backdrop where all the celebrities stopped to have their picture taken before entering Staples Center. I was all kinds of giddy with anticipation.
The day was long and the really big celebrities didn’t show up until right before show time, but I am still pinching myself over the fact that I saw Adam (Levine) walking right by me. Seriously, I felt like I was back in high school.
I think the real highlight for me was seeing Temera’s face when she spotted Carly Rae Jepson. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so excited. And then we saw Taylor Swift and we both nearly fainted. And of course, seeing Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Rihanna was surreal. And did I mention Justin Timberlake came over to say Hi and is seriously one of the nicest people.
I was there. I had a blast. I didn’t take any photos (we weren’t allowed to bring our phones in with us… will be bitter about that for the rest of my life), but I was able to give Temera one of the biggest moments of her life. I know we’ll both remember that day forever.
Going to the Grammy Awards Red Carpet was an incredible experience. Spending it with my daughter… PRICELESS!

I loved when some of the celebrities came over to the bleachers and just chatted and said Hi. I thought that showed a lot of class. Loved Justin Timberlake. Of course, seeing Adam made my heart flutter. Did you see him? He wasn’t on the carpet, but passed on the carpet on the right of us.
BEST DAY EVER! I missed Adam but loved the chance to see so many up close. Loved Justin! Fun to spend the day with you and your sweet daughter!
