Remember when the years just dragged on and on and you never thought you would ever get older? I see it in my own kids… that intense desire to grow up and drive their own car, go to college, start working and making their own money. It sounds very glamorous and special when you are a child… not so much so later on when you are “living the dream” and you discover that dream has flaws. Lots of them.
The end of the year is always a mixture of relief that the past year is coming to a close… and anticipation that the new year will be bigger and better. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. But the hope that it will be better… could be better… is always there. This is the one time that the world feels full of possibilities and you need to decide if YOU are going to make your life better or if you are going to let the next day come (and the next day) and keep on doing the same things you’ve always done. Without a change, a different direction, a new path to forge… not much is going to change.
I started this post with the idea that I was going to choose my WORD OF THE YEAR. I do it every year, although I honestly had no idea what that word was going to be. My word from last year was READY. I chose wisely. So many things happened this past year that I felt I was finally ready for. I settled into a great part-time job, I started a new business, I took the leap and participated in a 100-day Life Coaching course. I feel like I was ready to do what I needed to to make a life change. And that’s where my word of the year comes in. 2015 is going to be all about
The kids are getting older… and so are we! It’s time to stop moving forward on the same path we’ve always been on and start veering off to the one that is a little overgrown, a little crooked, a little scary.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Albert Einstein
It’s time to stop playing it all so safe and start taking chances. Like Einstein said, doing the same thing day after day isn’t going to change anything. Do you have a Word of the Year?

You have me thinking now!! I’ll let you know what my word is. I want to give it some thought.
Congratulations on your year of new successes! You’re really amazing. I’m glad you’re my friend.
Great word! My post is going up tomorrow. 🙂
Great word! And I pray that 2015 is everything that you want.
Happy New Year!
Thanks Margaret. I’m going into the new year with a lot of good feelings. I think this is the first year that I’m actually really excited to see what is in store for me.
Love it, Carolyn!!! I will hit you up in the new year ASAP, would love to do our mani day & talk social media managing 😉
Yes! Any time. Would love to get together.
I just love that quote - and your word for the year! I’ve yet to make one…I’ve been contemplating it for several years now, just haven’t buckled down and committed to a word. 🙂
It’s kind of a nice thing to do… choose a word. It helps give you focus when you are feeling a little lost later in the year. It puts you back on track for what you really want to be doing.
I finally have my word scheduled for later this week. After the year I’ve had, I could use some Change-but I think what I chose and my reasons why will make as much sense as yours does.
Here’s to a new year for all of us; full of good things and great (positive) changes!
