We are always looking for fun things to do on the weekends with the kids. Now that they are getting older, it’s easier to venture out into the big, bad world. Pretty much every week, we start hearing, “What are we doing this weekend? Are we doing anything fun?” And usually, what we do isn’t quite “fun enough” for them. Last weekend, we decided to take the kids to the Hollywood Wax Museum. My oldest daughter is 13 and we’ve never taken our kids there. What kind of parents are we?
They weren’t sure about all this, but we just kept telling them they would have fun. Really. And once we got there? They had a TON of fun!
The Hollywood Wax Museum is the only wax museum completely dedicated to Hollywood. It is the longest running wax museum in the United States and has been the most visited indoor attraction since it opened it’s doors in 1965. Currently, there are plans to celebrate the museum’s 50th anniversary coming up in 2015. There are two other Hollywood Wax Museums located in Branson, MO that opened in 1996, and in Pigeon Forge, TN that opened in 2012 and is the largest of the three.
The absolute best part about the Hollywood Wax Museum is that it is interactive. You can actually go right up and touch the displays. There is nothing behind a velvet rope and only some of the scarier exhibits (like the horror movie characters) are behind glass or bars. The kids (and us) had a field day taking photos with everyone.
