I forget all the time. All. The. Time. I forget to stop and do things for myself that refresh me and make me happy. I’m running around doing things for work, for school, for the kids, and it isn’t until late at night when I lay down in bed that I start thinking, “What did I do for ME today?” The answers aren’t very pleasant. Some days I don’t even remember to eat lunch. So what’s all this Take Time For YOU about? It’s about stopping and treating yourself like you do your kids or your spouse. Do something nice for yourself. It’s Perfectly Simple.
My husband gets on me all the time because I don’t eat during the day. He’s been telling me to keep some kind of nutrition bar with me during the day so if I start getting hungry, I’ll have something to eat instead of ignoring my growling stomach. I’m great at getting the kids to eat, but not so great at taking advice and preparing ahead of time for ME.
I decided I was going to drop if I kept doing this so I picked up some ZonePerfect Perfectly Simple bars and decided I was going to keep a few in my purse for those times when I need to stop and just have a snack and unwind for a few moments during my busy day.
Perfectly Simple lives up to it’s name. These bars are loaded with protein (exactly what I need) and are low in calorie (thank goodness) and come in 4 varieties:
• Almond Toffee Crunch
• Bing Cherry & Almond
• Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk
• Roasted Cashew & Dark Chocolate
So I’ve got a great new snack, now I just need to figure out how to actually RELAX. The more I heap onto my plate, the less time I have to just sit and smell the roses. Most of the time my “relaxing” time is spent watching my daughter play tennis.
Okay, maybe not so relaxing since I’m clenched up every time she hits a ball.
I try and get to my Book Club dinner once a month and that is when I can kind of forget about work and family and mellow out with a few glasses of wine.
This weekend, my husband and I are heading to Seattle for a few days of relaxing. I hope. Knowing my husband, he’ll have us running around from place to place. He is a doer on vacation. I’m the one wanting to relax. We’ll see what happens.
At one point, I made it a habit to get into bed early enough in the evening to actually have time to read a book… purely for enjoyment. Not sure where that habit went.
I also liked to watch TV to unwind at the end of the day, but the only show I seem to keep up with these days is Scandal.
So… tell me, how do YOU find time to #FeelGooder during the day and what snacks give you the energy to keep on going?
