This has been a busy week for blogging events. Lucky me. On Tuesday, I hopped in the car with my friend, Melissa, and her sweet newborn son, Luke, and we headed down to Brea to try out the new summer menu at Islands. Now, we have an Islands right here in Santa Clarita where I live… and we are very frequent patrons, but I have to say the Brea location is so much nicer. We were hosted out on the patio… yep, the patio. We don’t have a patio here locally. Someone needs to get on that one… because the patio was an amazing place to hang out and have a party.
It was a pleasure to be able to spend an afternoon with friends, but the real star of the day was the amazing spread Islands provided.
To say that these drinks were good would be an understatement. They were phenomenal. The I-Shandy drink (the first one on the left) was my favorite. A mix of Islands Golden Ale, lemonade and mango, it is the kind of drink that instantly transports you to an island beach. The first thing I did when I got home was tell my husband we HAVE to go to Islands just to have this drink.
We also tried the Ginger Berry Shandy, Sunset Sangria and Moonlight Sangria. Seriously good stuff, people. Come on, who is coming to happy hour with me?
But drinks weren’t the only ticket. The food came out next.
The Wiqui Waqui salad was incredible, as was the Poke, Hot Wings, Chips and Salsa, and the famous Heat Wave burgers. When they say “heat”, they aren’t kidding. You will definitely need a cold, tall Saint Archer beer to wash it all down with.
Bring a designated driver with you if you are drinking, please.

Lunch with the Ladies was a lot of fun. We were also really excited to see two brand new little members of our group… baby Luke and baby Andrew. There is just something about lunch on the patio with great friends, great food and adorable babies that makes me happy. Or maybe it was the alcohol?

My favorite summer drink is the brandy slushy my friend makes when we’re hanging out by her pool. They are divine!
I love Islands but haven’t been in years! (Didn’t have them in our location on the east coast.) Their new menu items look like something I need to try!
And I think I’d have to try the Ginger-Berry Shandy!

Oh, and my favorite summer drink is either iced tea or a nice white wine. I drink a lot of coffee and water too but the iced and white wine is perfect for a summer night.
Water is my favorite summer drink. I know, not very exciting, but a nice cold glass of water will hit the spot any time.
My favorite summer drink is any kind of a margarita.

I Havent been to Island in almost 20 years. will have to try it out, with all this great pictures. My favorite drink during summer is lemonade or strawberry lemonade.

I love a good margarita in summer! I agree that Islands in SCV needs a patio! A new location is being built near me and I’m hoping it includes that too.

I’m from Texas, so my fave summer drink is Sweet Tea!
My fave summer drink has to be a 50/50 bar drink my mom makes. It’s whipped cream vodka and orange juice…kind of like a more ice creamy version of a mimosa!
