The night I first met my husband he showed up at the restaurant dressed all in black. He wore black jeans, a black long sleeve shirt, black boots and had a black mustache and goatee. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. We had met online and emailed back and forth for months. This was long before there were such things and smart phones and texting. We used good old dial-up modems and AOL. This was also before the time of digital photos. When we met that first night, we had known a lot about each other, but we had never actually seen each other.
Had I known ahead of time what my husband of 16 years looked like, I most likely would have come up with some lame excuse about having to wash my hair. I don’t like facial hair. Never have. Never will. Not my thing. While I can appreciate a good looking guy with 5 o’clock shadow, I certainly don’t want my skin loofahed by it.
Jumping ahead… we did end up getting married (no kidding) and the stipulation was that he could never grow that hideous mustache and goatee again. Oh, don’t get me wrong… he tried a few times. Or more than a few, but I couldn’t take it and always made him shave. The razor is now one of his best friends.
Working in the legal field, David gets up and shaves every single morning. It’s crazy. We go through tons of razor cartridges a month, but it’s worth it to keep that baby smooth face. I think he’s tried just about everything on the market and he’s never really found something that he loves. He usually goes for the regular cartridge type of razor over an electric razor. Just preference I guess.
So a few weeks ago while we were cuddled up watching TV, we saw an ad for the new Gillette Fusion ProGlide Flexball Razor. It was pretty awesome and David commented that it reminded him of a Dyson vacuum. You know, the one that has the ball that pivots around. This razor does that too. I told him he should get one and try it since it seemed a lot safer for a blade to be rolling around his facial edges than the regular razor he uses. I have to admit, we’ve had some accidents. The last thing you want when you are getting ready for work is to have dots of toilet paper soaking up a bloody face. (I know you’re picturing it now.)
So the last time I went to Walmart (I know, I know… when do I ever NOT go to Walmart?) I found the razors and picked him up one. I was dying to see how it would work. Am I the only woman who actually gets excited buying a razor for her husband?
They weren’t hard to find since they were right on display at the end of the aisle. A little pricier than a regular manual razor, but this one was supposed to give an even closer, more even shave. Well… I’ll be the judge of that!
Luckily, my husband was game for anything.
