Now that my kids are back at school, I have no reason to not start back on my own schedule as well. Part of working at home means I can take the kids to school in my pajamas and sit in bed all day and use my laptop. Unfortunately, that’s not always a good thing and does not usually lead to me being very productive. So… I am going back to some things I used to do to get myself going in the morning. Mainly, that entails getting myself dressed, showered and doing my hair and make-up. Okay… problem. I am horrible at doing my own hair and make-up. With my hair I end up going from wanting it short to wanting it long. With my make-up I tend to get so frustrated with colors that I end up not wearing anything but some mineral foundation and eyeliner. My husband is always telling me I should wear eye shadow and lipstick, but honestly, I have never been able to find good colors for me. So… my new goal is to try some new colors and find something… anything… that works with my skin tone.
I have to admit I’m one of those people who hates spending a lot of money on make-up. I just don’t see the point. There are plenty of products that work just as well as expensive brands and I’ve never been a big name-brand type of person. I had heard of e.l.f. everyday cosmetics before but hadn’t ever tried them. I had the opportunity to do just that and I was excited to delve into a totally new-to-me brand. I did my shopping at my local Target, one of the few stores that carried e.l.f. You can see my entire shop of e.l.f. cosmetics at Target on Google +.
I really loved pouring over all the make-up but realized that the e.l.f. website had way more products available than my Target store had.
The problem when it comes to new make-up is that I do tend to go a little overboard, especially when the price point is so reasonable. The most expensive product I purchased was the Mineral Infused Face Primer for $6.00. All the other products were either $1.00 or $3.00.
So, I ended up getting an assortment of new things… some blush, lipstick, eye shadow and a fun shimmer pencil for my eyes.
So now that I’ve got all these amazing new products to try, I guess I have to just get to it and try them out. I think I need to enlist the help of my daughter to do it. If you are trying out new things, your kids are your best test audience. They will always tell it like it is… good or bad.
Here’s the before without a stitch of make-up on. Wow, I’m looking old.
And here’s the after all dolled up with my new e.l.f. makeup.
What do you think? Do I look any different? I think my eyes are definitely a little brighter and my skin sure looks better. I love the eye shadow and shimmer pencil I bought. Those are definite keepers. Also, the face primer kind of does make my pores look smaller. That is always a good thing. I still can’t seem to choose the right lipstick. I tend to go with neutral colors that don’t do anything for me. I need to experiment more with brighter colors. Scary. All in all, I’m really happy with my e.l.f. cosmetics products. I would absolutely go buy more. In fact, I think I have an email from them with some discounts. Awesome!
One more FYI… if you sign up with the website, you will get sent all kinds of really cool deals and discounts on e.l.f. cosmetics. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with all the new products and specials they have as well.

I had heard of E-L-F products, but had not seen them at my local Target. However last weekend I had to venture into a different city for travel stuff and visited their local Target and saw the products on sale there. I was surprised to find items ranging from a $1- $3 that is very affordable and I even tried out their blush and loved it! I liked the shades they had but also that it did not look like I plastered it on as with others I’ve used. 🙂 I honestly never thought of signing up for their deals.. Great idea! 😀
I really liked their blush a lot. Most of the ones I try just aren’t right for me but I found a color that actually looks natural on me. So glad I did.
I’ve used e.l.f. for years and love it. I was so excited when my Target started carrying it.
Definitely going to check these out, I love new makeup 🙂 you look great!!
I Haven’t tried this product yet. After reading and seeing the result I am now off the Target to buy some to give it a try. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. 🙂
I’m not a big makeup person, but the older I get I realize how it can help. I’m beginning to get dark circles around my eyes so I’ve in the last few months have been playing around with eye make up and notice what a difference it can make.
And then when it comes to cleansers…. so important to have those on a daily basis (I remember about once a week right now!)
But yes, you can notice a difference. In the past I wasn’t big on spending big money on make up then a friend took me into sephora, and I have noticed a huge difference in products so now I’m okay with spending a bit of money.
You look beautiful!
Wow, what a haul. You look fantastic!
You look great, Carolyn! Definitely see more color on your face, & your eyes look amazing. I live at Target, yet have not tried any ELF products yet. Once you keep at applying all your new products, it will become quick & fun for you, like part of your coffee routine in the morning!;) I find I feel more confident in some make-up, but thats me. Have fun!:)
You look great, you got a lot of stuff and yes I can see the difference!
I’ve never tried E.L.F. cosmetics, but have definitely become addicted to Target (make up, clothes, just about anything). Target has become my new $100 store (can’t make it out the door without spending $100) LOL
eh you look beautiful both ways. ^_^
Awesome! I think you look great! Those prices are truly amazing in this day and age! Definitely going to check it ou!
Oh my gosh…you look amazing! I love that big ole kabuki brush. That’s something we ALL need!
It really made your eyes pop! You look lovely!
