HAPPY 2013!

It’s always a little strange waking up on January 1st. In some respects you want there to be a complete change in your entire life. You have another year of starting over, doing things differently, getting it right. On the other hand, as the day wears on, you realize that today is really not much different than yesterday. The same problems remain, the same kids are whining and you have a kitchen full of empty cups and spoiled onion dip to clean up.

Despite the fact that I went to bed around 1am, I was up bright and early at 7:45 as my dogs were barking at something outside in the back yard. A reminder that life must go on as normal. But at least give me a few more hours to enjoy the fact that we don’t have to work today and we can lay around in bed watching the Rose Parade.

Yesterday, we packed up the family and headed out to see some of the Rose Parade floats. We’ve been doing this for the past few years and I think that as the kids get older, they are starting to appreciate it a little more. You can watch the parade on TV, but it really doesn’t even compare to seeing the floats in person. The colors are incredibly vibrant and the amount of flowers and other natural products that go into the decorating is massive. If you missed my Instagram photos on Facebook yesterday, here are a few of the floats we saw.

Put it down on your calendar for next year… go see the floats up close and personal.

And today… after the parade, we’ll make some cinnamon roll waffles and pour the mimosas and then I’ll probably sit down and start stressing over the fact that I’ve got a bat mitzvah to put on in only 3 more weeks!

Enjoy your day everyone!

I am watching the Rose Parade with my dog- everyone else is still in bed. Same old, same old… Though I have all the dry ingredients for pancakes ready.

Mmmm pancakes sound good. I can rock some pancakes! I’m putting bacon in them. Have a great year! Thank you for being an amazing influence for me in 2012.
