I’m sorry, but I think I blinked and missed all of 2012. Is it just me or did this year seem to go by way faster than any of my other 46 years? I can’t believe it’s goal-setting time again (or resolution-time, depending on how self-depreciating you are). I pulled up my post from December 31, 2011 and laughed. Did I accomplish what was on my list? Hell no. Would it be the exact same list of goals I want to accomplish in 2013? Hell yes.
So, why can’t I seem to actually DO the things I want to do? I don’t know… maybe day-to-day life gets in the way. I have to say, this year was a big one. I did a lot of traveling, attended a lot of blogging conferences and made more new friends than I ever thought I could meet. I also picked up an incredible mentor along the way (Ana Lydia, your advice and guidance have been invaluable to me this year) and I also had the opportunity to help some really amazing women as well (my dear SoCal Lady Bloggers). One thing I’ve realized this past year is that I get way more satisfaction out of helping other bloggers than I do with my own blogging. Funny how that is. While I have no intention of giving up my personal blog, I really am looking forward to working with Megan to grow SoCal Lady Bloggers in 2013.
I think about all that 2013 will bring and I don’t want to be sitting here as the calendar turns to 2014 without feeling like I really accomplished something over the past year. So that is my goal, my only goal, for 2013. I want to end my year with a feeling of accomplishment. I don’t know what that will mean, exactly, I just know that I have to make it happen.

You’re definitely not spinning your wheels. You have ideas in your head and you really do go after them, but you’re a goal setter, meaning, you accomplish one thing, you’re onto the next.
The endless cycle =) You’ve done great with So Cal Lady Bloggers along with Megan and our beloved Sid. (hard to believe she’s gone!) :/

Sometimes it does feel like spinning our wheels, especially when raising kids, and yet, you’ve done a hella lot, Caro.
If I may recommend, Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ stories of Persephone. There IS a time of the seed being underground, seeming, from the surface, like there’s nothing going on. Or trees that have lost their leaves, and yet, this too, is an important part of the cycle of growth.
