Most people start new projects in January, the whole New Year - New You thing. Not me. I tend to start new projects in the fall. A few years ago we renovated out bedroom from orange walls and pile carpet to blue walls and berber carpet. My idea was a “beachy” look and I got what I wanted. But… after a few years it just got tired and old and I really want a more sophisticated bedroom. I’m DONE with the carpet… between the kids and pets it just gets gross and I am so anxious to rip it all out and lay down some dark wood floors. Okay, not really “wood”… more like “faux wood”. But it looks like the real thing for half the cost so who am I to complain? The scary part is that we are installing it ourselves. Who on earth came up with that idea? Anything to save money, I guess. Hoping that it isn’t too hard and only takes a day.
So… this is what my bedroom looks like now. I still really love the furniture we have but I have never had a headboard so I’ve got plans to make myself one. We also recently bought the foot bench that is shown. We got it at Urban Home for $139 and it’s upholstered in a beige linen. I’m hoping to match the fabric for my custom (handmade) headboard.
BEFORE
I gathered up all my inspiration and put it together on Polyvore so I could get a feel for what my finished room would look like. I still need to select the actual paint color and buy the bedding and accessories. It won’t be done overnight… but I’m on a mission. Oh… I’ll also be re-upholstering my vanity chair, possibly getting new mirrors for over the dresser. I might also have a few more little tricks up my sleeve.

I love the colors you are choosing! that shade of purple seems very calming and relaxing.
Love it! It is going to turn out great!! Good luck with installing the floors. Lots. of. Advil. {and wine!} I can’t wait to see how the headboard turns out…I’m wanting to make one too!
