This past week has been an emotional roller coaster for me. So many great things have happened, all tempered by the fact that one really bad thing happened. My friends have been incredible, providing support for both the good and the bad. I am truly blessed to have people who care. Sometimes it’s just not enough to say thank you. It’s a small gesture that never fully comprehends the bigger meaning. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about how fragile life is and how we need to use every opportunity we have to let the people we love know how much them mean to us.
With the holidays coming up, I think most people are feeling the same way. A new company, Poetry Salon, is hoping they might help you create the perfect gift… a custom poem that will say all the things you are thinking, but can’t put into words yourself. It’s pretty simple, actually. You answer a series of questions (either online or via phone) and a professional poet creates a one-of-a-kind, personal poem for you to give your loved one. Something simple but so memorable.
Each gift is unique in that you can have a simple hand-crafted paper poem or you can pair a poem with a gift that is just as memorable. And the poems cover every memorable area: wedding proposals, Valentine’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, births and deaths. There really is no limit to what a poem would be perfect for. This is the kind of gift you are not going to find a duplicate of sitting under the tree.
With a network of 600 poets, Poetry Salon will go over your answers to their questions carefully in order to match you with the poet who will best be a fit for your situation. How cool is that? You get your very own, hand-picked poet to create this special gift. I kind of wish someone would write me a poem as a gift because I think it’s something I would treasure always.
For all of my readers, Poetry Salon is offering a 20% off discount on all of their products through the end of 2012. Just enter the code SCLADY upon check-out.
I would love to hear back how much you loved your poem… and more importantly, how the receiver loved it.
I am not being compensated for this post and am writing it because I like to share unique business ideas and gifts with my readers.

Lovely idea! I wish I were the kind of poet who could do that. I have given poems as gifts before. It is a very personal and lovely way to honor someone. Thank you for sharing this. Hugs, Melis
What a wonderful idea and it’s delivered so nicely! Definitely thinking of getting a poem for the nursery. *hugs* here’s to friends too!
This is a great concept, it is so true we get so wrapped up in our own lives that we forget to let loved ones know how much we appreciate them and love them. This is a unique gift one that would keep on giving! Sending you lots of love Carolyn and hoping for a better week…
And some of the best gifts are those that are thoughtful and innovative. Nothing is more special than a poem.
