I’ve written before of our family’s love affair with super heros. We have all the movies on DVD and every time a new one comes out we run to see it at the theater. The only one we missed on the big screen this year was the new Spider-Man. Luckily, it is being released on DVD and Blue-Ray on November 9th. Even luckier for me, I got an advanced copy! Woo-Hoo! It’s Spidey-Time.
I shopped at Walmart for other things I’d need for the party, like Marketside Pizza and Spider-Man decorations. You can check out my entire shopping trip on Google +.
The best part about this experience was The Amazing Spider-Man augmented reality app that you can download on iTunes. You can also check out the Web-Slinger App on Google Play. By holding your smartphone over the Marketside Pizza box and your Spider-Man movie, you can unlock all kinds of cool features. You can even star in your own comic book.
Okay, so I look a little silly… but it was fun. You can also use the app in Walmart when you search for trigger points that unlock other app features.
Since it was Lauryn’s 8th birthday, I thought it would be fun to have the cousins over for a little birthday party and movie night. Spider-Man might not be the traditional theme for a girl’s 8th birthday, but my kids love action movies and even though our decorations were Spider-Man themed, we still had a pink cake.
The coolest part about these decorations were that they were all in 3-D. I know… decorations in 3-D. You buy special 3-D glasses and Spider-Man jumps out at you. I loved this… and it kept the kids busy for hours.
After pizza and cake, it was movie time. Such a fun evening celebrating Lauryn’s Birthday and the new The Amazing Spider-Man DVD!
