I’d like to thank General Mills for sponsoring today’s post on the Cereal Wars and bringing back great memories of Star Wars.
The year was 1977, probably a year most of you recognize as being somewhere back in the dark ages. For me, it was the year I was 11. A new movie had just come out… a movie unlike ANY other movie I had ever seen. It was dark. It was futuristic. It was unexpected. It was STAR WARS.
To say Star Wars completely changed the way we thought of movies would be an understatement. It put some pretty huge stars on the map, and it forever imbedded characters like Han Solo, Darth Vader and Princess Leia into our memories. Let’s face it… we ALL wanted to be Princess Leia and have cinnamon buns for our hairdo.
While you might not have been around to watch the first episode in a movie theater like I did, it’s pretty hard to find a person around today who hasn’t seen at least some of the Star Wars movies. Now, General Mills, is taking the love of all things Star Wars to another level.
From now until the end of December 2013, you can purchase participating General Mills cereals (Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese’s Puffs, Golden Grahams, Cocoa Puffs, Trix and Lucky Charms) and look for the collectible pens in specially marked Big G boxes.
The collectable pen characters include: Darth Vader, Yoda, Chewbacca, Storm Trooper, Mace Windu, Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Boba Fett. How absolutely adorable are these? I want them ALL! How fun would it be to re-create your own Star Wars scenes with these fab Star Wars pens over breakfast each morning?
Check out Cereal Wars: The Edible Episodes on the Big G Tumbler page to see some super creative re-creations and even upload your own.
