Last night I had the chance to go see Jenny Lawson (The Bloggess) on her book tour. She was here in Los Angeles at the Writer’s Guild. This wasn’t the first time I had heard Jenny speak. The first time was last summer at the EVO Conference in Park City, Utah. Reading her blog posts and listening to her speak are two different things. Her blog posts are hysterical and crazy and fun. Listening to her speak, however, brings her stories to life in a way the printed page never can. In a word: she’s hysterical. Yes, she’s had an unconventional life, but that is what makes her so real, so human, and so damn funny. She laughs at herself and there is nothing more attractive than a woman who can laugh at herself.
Yes, I have a blog crush on her.
When I heard she was publishing her book (that was 10 years in the making), I pre-ordered a copy from Amazon. Well, we know how THAT turned out. But… it all worked out in the end because I got my Amazon copy yesterday… just in time for me to take it to the book event and have Jenny sign it personally. So, she might have said that Carolyn was one of her favorite names. If she told you that your name was her favorite too… don’t tell me, let me live the fantasy.
To add to the excitement of the evening, I FINALLY got to meet some incredible bloggers who are part of SoCal Lady Bloggers. Trina, Melissa and Leila were all there and I wish I had more time to spend talking with them. And it was so fun to see Beverly, AJ and Jamie again. Love these ladies.
Truth be told, the real highlight for me was when I got home last night and checked my email. I found this…
After following The Bloggess for years, she is FINALLY following me! I can’t begin to tell you how excited this makes me. I know… I’m a little crazy. But not nearly as crazy as Jenny… which is why we all love her so.
I’m gushing, I know. I’ll stop now.
If you’re looking for me today… I’ll be curled up in my bed reading her book from cover to cover.

Even if I spent the first part of the evening watching brake lights on Wilshire & Santa Monica, instead of having drinks and eats with my SoCal Lady Blogsisters, it was a great night. Thank you, Carolyn, for helping to organize and introduce me to people.
I’m glad all went well! Still waiting on my book…
Boo! I’m so bummed I had to miss out! I haven’t gotten her book yet but plan on picking it up this week. A few months back I blogged mentioning her book & she commented on my post. I almost freaking DIED!
