If you aren’t familiar with The Happiness Project, I highly recommend you take a look around Wendy & Maegan’s blog, Chronically Distracted, and read all about it. For their inaugural link-up, they chose Resolutions. Now that we’re a month into 2012, it’s a great time to look back and see just how well we’ve all been doing with the resolutions we made. How have I done? Well… take a look at my original Resolutions post to see what my intentions were a month ago.
1. I need to get my house in order.
I won’t say it is completely in order but yes, I have taken baby steps to get it that way. I’m following a De-Clutter program and David and I have talked about the things we want to work on in our house this year. We have a plan (more or less) so we’re slowly working towards making it a reality.
2. I need to get my family healthy and fit.
Yes, I am definitely moving in that direction. I started Weight Watchers and as of today have lost 7 pounds. I am definitely cooking healthier meals and trying to limit all the snacks the kids have been eating. They have been running and bike riding and getting a lot more fresh air. Thankfully the weather has been fabulous this winter so we haven’t all been cooped up in the house watching TV.
3. Work on Blogging.
HA! I have been doing nothing but blogging lately. I started the SITS Girls 31 Days to Build a Better Blog and I have learned so much about the design, content and promotion of my blog. I have already found new readers, new twitter followers and most importantly, new friends. With my partners, Megan and Sidney, we have some fun things planned for our SoCal Lady Bloggers site and I’m looking forward to attending BlogHer in New York City this summer.
4. I need to get back to reading.
Okay, this is where I have slacked off. I do a lot more blog reading than I do book reading, but I’m working on Alice Hoffman’s The Dovekeepers right now and it’s fabulous. I’m also really excited to meet Marie Lu, the author of Legend during her upcoming book tour.
5. Get the kids to contribute more to this house.
Well… let me think. Temera has definitely been taking more responsibility when it comes to the house. I don’t have to ask her to help out… she just does it. Amanda and Lauryn… not so much. Keeping their rooms clean has gotten a little better. But just a little. This will be an ongoing process. Probably for the rest of our lives.
6. David and I need to get out more.
Yes and No. We finally went to dinner and a movie without having to hire a babysitter or ask Grandma. Having a child old enough to babysit has been incredible. We were only gone a few hours but it worked out really well. No calls or complaints so we might be able to make this a regular thing for us.
7. Stop feeling guilty.
I always felt guilty every time I did something for ME. No more. I’ve wiped the guilt out of my mind. If I want something, I’m going to do it, buy it or watch it. Now that my children don’t need me every minute of the day, I need to start doing things that make ME happy. That’s one of the reasons I love The Happiness Project. It’s time for all of us to just get happy and stay happy.
So how have I done with my resolutions? I think I’ve done pretty good. I made goals that were realistic and necessary for my life. It feels good to make a positive change.
What about you? Have you been keeping your resolutions? If you have written about it, link-up with us at Chronically Distracted.

I think the trick with making resolutions is choosing ones that are realistic to stick with. And seriously, if it isn’t working out… there’s no rule book saying you can’t start again in February… or March… or November.
Congrats on the weight loss and your other accomplishments! Keep up the noble decluttering efforts!
