How often can you say, “Johnny Rockets invited us over to try out their new specialty shake and sample some amazing burgers and fries?” Yeah… didn’t think so. This is what I love about my job… and being able to take my family and hang with my best blogging buddies was icing on the cake. We’re pretty big Johnny Rockets fans and if someone is serving milkshakes, there’s a pretty good chance that I’ll be there.
Serve my kids burgers and shakes and they’ll be loyal fans for life. We are pretty lucky that we live near a Johnny Rockets so we can go any time, but the one on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles is the original restaurant started back in 1986.
“Each year, Johnny Rockets serves 17 million Hamburgers, 11.3 million soda pops, 8.3 million Shakes and Malts, 8 million pounds of Fries, 2.1 million orders of Onion Rings and 815,000 gallons of ice cream.”
The day was pretty awesome, despite the searing heat. The patio at the Melrose location was bustling with bloggers and their families enjoying the great food, some ketchup art and learning that famous Johnny Rockets dance.
And of course, my family had to participate in the Ketchup Art… kudos to Johnny Rockets for thinking of the kids. What a fun activity for them.
The best part of the day was getting a lesson in “Shakeology” from the Master. We went back behind the counter to learn how Johnny Rockets makes those incredible shakes. I think the 10 oz. of ice cream in every shake sure helps. They also have a special ice cream created just for them… no wonder the shakes we make at home never come out quite as thick and rich. (P.S. We totally need a milkshake blender.)
September is National Shake Month - yes, it’s really a thing. To celebrate, Johnny Rockets has created their new “Candy Shake” with M&Ms® Milk Chocolate Candies. This Shake will be available in all locations beginning September 16! But… you don’t have to wait that long to try a Johnny Rockets shake. TODAY ONLY… if you go into any Johnny Rockets and give them the Secret Word, you will get a FREE Milkshake! What’s better than a FREE Milkshake?
Keep up with Johnny Rockets by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
Thank you to Johnny Rockets for the invitation to attend the Blogger Meet-Up for #ShakeMonth and for the complimentary burgers, shakes and fries. It was an awesome day. All opinions are my own.

I’d be down for a shake cleanse, but I’m guessing that isn’t going to get me very far in the weight loss department. What kind of juice cleanse are you doing Nicole? I wouldn’t mind trying one, but for me it’s all about the taste.
These look delish!
Now I wish that there were a Johnny Rocket’s closer to us! We had one but they closed it for some reason.

That’s a bummer. We actually have 2 of them near us. One of them is at Six Flags Magic Mountain which is about 10 minutes away from us. We have season passes so we are there all the time. Love that we can get JR shakes there.
The catsup art sounds like hilarious fun. And give me a coffee or vanilla shake, and I’m yours for life.

The worst post ever to read right before bed. Definitely wanting a shake right now.
