Resolutions? Again? I thought we all did resolutions posts back in January? I know I did. So why would I be talking about them again in April? Well, for one thing, it’s our Blog Gang topic this week. And for another, I don’t think resolutions should be relegated to January.
I think we go through our entire lives constantly making resolutions. We talk about the things we want to do, how we are going to do them, where we want to go, who we want to be. As women, we change our minds. Often. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
In February, I took a look back at the resolutions I made for myself for 2011. Some of them I’ve kept, some I haven’t. Feel bad about the ones I didn’t accomplish? No, not really. I’ve decided not to beat myself up over them… I would just revise them. If you come across the rule that says resolutions can only be made in January, please let me know.
So here we are in April and I’m thinking some revision might be necessary. So here are my revised resolutions.
1. While I may not be as far along in writing the book I want (when I say not far along, I mean haven’t written a word), I resolve to find my writing “voice” so when I do start writing, I will do it authentically.
2. I haven’t exactly taken the sewing class I wanted to, but I DID take a photography class and my new resolution is to practice, practice, practice taking amazing photographs. (Haven’t given up the sewing dream but it might just have to be put on hold a while.)
3. I am finally going to buy some cans of paint and get to work on the kids’ bedrooms. Never mind that this was supposed to happen back in December… I am going with the “designer’s are temperamental” aspect of my personality. Yes, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
4. I am going to focus on working towards my new career as a Social Media Maven. Don’t laugh… it could happen.
5. I am going to buy and plant a lemon tree. See… you’re laughing again. I want a lemon tree. Is that so wrong?
6. I am going to lose 10 pounds. I know, I know… this is a “January” type of resolution. But I didn’t make a diet resolution in January so I’m doing it now. I have 4 months to go before BlogHer and I have to keep up with Monica.
