I’ve decided to start a regular Tuesday feature on my blog called I Think I Can Do That. I may not be the craftiest person around (not even close) but if you are like me and want to start getting a little more hands-on, come back on Tuesdays and see what else I have going on.
I’ve been sitting on my you-know-what too long when it comes to some of the things around the house I want to do. Many of those things have to do with some really crafty projects I’ve found on Pinterest. I have a Board called “I Think I Can Do That” and it’s time I started putting my crafting skills where my mouth is. This rag garland was one of the first things I found on Pinterest that I absolutely loved. How hard could it be to do that?
Seems simple enough. Scraps of cloth tied onto some kind of string. Yes… I think I can do that!
I have a huge pile of old clothes that have been ruined. When clothes are in good condition, I normally donate them, but when they are stained or torn, I pile them up to use in craft projects.
I flattened out the shirts I wanted to use and cut them square and as even as I could. It doesn’t matter if the stains are showing because once you tie the fabric up you won’t even see it.
I cut the fabric into strips, approximately 12″ x 2″. You can do larger or smaller ones if you like. I tried to use colors that would go well in my daughter’s bedroom since I plan on hanging the rag garland from her window.
I found a long cord at home that I used to tie the fabric on. You can use whatever you like… rope, leather cording, yarn, etc.
I hung the garland across her window and tied the ends onto the curtain rod.
This was actually a super easy project to make. It cost me NOTHING! and my daughter loves it.

What a fun feature! Super cute idea!
Thanks so much. It’s something I’ve thought about doing for a while but sometimes we just have to take the leap.
