My Anniversary Weekend

I just spent the last few days pretending I didn’t have kids.

I slept in a hotel room where nobody knocked on my door or crawled into my bed in the middle of the night.

I woke up without an alarm clock and when the sun was actually above the horizon.

I ordered in restaurants without needing a children’s menu.

I went to restaurants that didn’t have a children’s menu.

Nobody asked me for a sip of my coffee.

I shopped in stores and was able to try on clothes without someone crawling under the door.

I didn’t have to run to the bathroom every 10 minutes with a different kid because they couldn’t all decide if they had to go at the same time.

I saw a grown-up movie.

I drove in the car without listening to Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

I slept in the car because it was so quiet.

I didn’t take any pictures.

I didn’t tell anyone to stop fighting.

I didn’t blog.

I walked. A lot.

I relaxed.
