This review is completely unbiased. I did NOT receive a free planner. I did NOT receive a discount. I purchased this planner at full retail value at my own expense. These are my honest opinions.
I’m a paper and pen kind of girl. Don’t get me wrong… I love my Google Calendar and how it syncs up with my iPhone, but when it comes down to it… I need to be able to pick up a planner and turn it over in my hands. I need to be able to take it with me, stick it in my purse, pull it out and make my to-do lists for the day.
Every year I start thinking that maybe I’ll go with something different. I’ve purchased MomAgenda planners for the past two years. Two years ago I bought the MyAgenda planner (the same planner as the MomAgenda except it doesn’t have space at the bottom of the weekly pages for dinner planning). I loved the layout, but really didn’t like the fact that it was a bound book (softcover) that didn’t sit open on it’s own. Last year I purchased a bigger version of the actual Mom Agenda. It was spiral bound, but was hard covered front and back. I thought that if I got the desk top size, I would have more room to write. After all, I was getting much busier and needed more space, right? Wrong. It was too big for me. It was large and heavy and I couldn’t really carry it around in a purse.
This year, I checked out some reviews of other brands of planners. There are a ton out there. I considered purchasing an Erin Condran and one off of Etsy (both great planners), but there were a few specific requirements I needed.
1. I needed a size between a mini and the full size planner. Something middle of the road that I could fit in my purse and carry around with me.
2. I needed a spiral bound so I could open pages to the ones I really needed for the day.
3. I needed enough different sections to cover all my planning duties: Household & Personal, Campaign Leader work, Social Media work, Kids, and Personal Blog. That’s at least 5 different sections.
4. I wanted a planner that had a section of notes. Sometimes you just need to be able to write something down and you don’t want to write it directly on the daily page.
5. I like a weekly format as opposed to a daily format… and I also like to be able to see the entire month at a glance.
Armed with all these requirements, I found that I kept coming back to the MomAgenda. So I decided that I would purchase the mid-size spiral bound book that covered everything I wanted. This one is 7″ x 9″ which is actually the perfect size for me. There is just enough room to write down what I have planned, without leaving a ton of blank space that I hate… because it makes it seem like I’m not doing anything all day. And we all know that isn’t true.
Since I was familiar with the layout, this wasn’t a big stretch for me. What I really loved most is that the calendar begins in August - perfect for my yearly timing since that is the beginning of the school year for us. In fact, the first date of the planner is actually Monday, July 28 since calendars always start on the Monday of the first week of the month. After my planner made a slight post office detour to Central California (isn’t tracking great?), it was delivered on July 23. Just in time to get myself organized and start off fresh on Monday the 28th.
This gives you an idea of what the weekly pages look like and how to fill them out.
Another great touch I love is that the is an inspirational quote on every page. It’s not right in your face and you kind of have to know it’s there or you can miss it… but it’s kind of nice being able to look up from a crazy week and see something that keeps you going.
So here we go with another blank planner… wonder what exciting things will be filled in on the pages over the next 12 months.
Let me know… what brand of planner do you use and what do you like about it?
As much as I like the digital convenience, I still find myself using pen and paper a lot, simply b/c it’s easier for to to write than type.

It’s so much faster for me to write something down than to pick up my phone or sit at the computer and type. I rarely even use a calculator because I can calculate math much faster with pen and paper.
I have been using my iphone calendar now for the last year and I am still not a big fan of it. Every time I am on the phone I have to tell people to hold on while I check my phone calendar to plan something. It is a pain. I miss my old paper calendar. I might go back to it after reading your post. Thanks for sharing. I will also share your post on my facebook page. My readers will appreciate it too.

Thanks, Jilleen. I agree about the flipping back and forth on the phone when you are trying to schedule something. So hard.
I’m actually looking for a pen and paper planner, I can’t seem to get used to my phone’s calendar and it’s been 5 years! I also still use an address book that I handwrite address’ and phone numbers in.

Love my MomAgenda so much! I have been using my MomAgenda for years and though I look at other planners once in awhile to see what is out there and have trie dto go completely Google, doesn’t work for me. I want to touch it, feel it and lay it out in front of me. MomAgenda is the best layout for me and my family. I LOVE it. This new one I am purchasing soon will be the personal portfolio, so I can add or remove as wanted, it will lay flat! and I can just replace the calendar. Wish they had the grey croc or other choices for the croc, but it would just cost me more!! lol..

Thanks, Diana. I think I’m a creature of habit because I keep coming back to the same one over and over gain. I guess if it isn’t broke… I shouldn’t look to fix it.
I LOVE my Mom Agenda Planner. I use it for everything! I especially love the sparkly gray cover with the personalized print on it. I didn’t go for the spiral bound one (this time). I can’t wait to order my next one!

I was looking at buying the mini spiral MomAgenda, but after seeing your review I’m upgrading to the MyAgenda Spiral that you linked to! I can’t find that size listed on the website, but it’s the perfect size. Thanks for posting
