This has been a lazy week for me. Why? Because I have an addiction.
A MAD MEN addiction.
I never watched the show when it first came out. People talked about it all the time but for some reason it never really interested me much. I’d see John Hamm doing all the talk shows and people were enamored. I couldn’t figure it out. He didn’t do anything for me.
So a week ago, I’m skimming through Netflix trying to find something new to watch and I noticed they now had Mad Men. All 4 seasons. I figured I’d watch the first episode and see what it was all about.
It’s a week later and I’m now starting Season 4 episodes. Holy crap… I’m a MAD MEN addict.
I totally get it now. The draw. John Hamm. Don Draper. LOVE IT!
Yes, the show is sexist to women. Yes, the men are all philandering bastards. Yes they all drink too much, smoke too much, work too much. Doesn’t matter. It’s fun.
It’s fun to take the ride with these people… my parents generation. It’s fun to see how they lived, what the styles were, what the homes looked like. I grew up in a home like that. A home where olive green and orange and yellow were the colors. Where adults still dressed up to go into the city. Where a home cooked dinner was on the table every night.
Maybe it’s a little bit of nostalgia. Maybe some things have gotten better over time. Maybe other things haven’t.
Regardless, I’m starting Season 4 and will be right there with everyone else desperately waiting for Season 5.

Yes! Cheers to a fellow “Mad Men” addict! Enjoy!
I didn’t know you were hooked on Mad Men too. I don’t know how I’ll be able to wait for Season 5.
My mom is super addicted to this show too!!!
My husband has started watching Mad Men on Netflix, but i haven’t seen any of them- I guess I should catch up. It gets addicting when they have so many seasons on there, because then I can not leave my couch for days!

LOL - I’ve been watching it every chance I can get. Thank God my kids are in school every day and that I can work from home.
