It isn’t often that I get invited to attend an event that my husband is jealous of, so I was pretty excited to get to attend the unveiling of the all new Ford Mustang. Ford Motor Company is introducing the new 2015 Mustang and is also celebrating 50 years of the Mustang. You would have thought a huge celebrity was making an appearance Thursday at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The paparazzi was in full force, and the new Mustang even had it’s tires immortalized in cement.
So, the all new 2015 Ford Mustang won’t be available for purchase until next fall, and you might be wondering why the roll out right now? Well, it’s the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang and this is the 6th generation Mustang. While I’m not always up to date on my car statistics, I do know what I like. I really like this new Mustang, probably due to the fact that it is much more representative of the older cars from the 60′s. I can’t help it… I like Vintage.
The new car will be available with three different engine choices. At the base, there will be a 3.7-liter V6 with at least 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. (Someone should probably explain that to me.) There will be a turbo-charged four cylinder with about the same horsepower, but more torque. The top line will come with a 5.0-liter V8 that produces more than 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, which is what the current model has.
I just like the colors.
Pretty sure my daughter would make a beeline for the yellow, while my husband kind of likes the metallic red. Me? I like the silver.
It was a zoo at the unveiling, but much more low-key at the lunch that followed. Mustang clubs from all over the country were represented and I find it so interesting that everybody has a different year that they say is their favorite.
The closest I came to having a Mustang was when my husband and I rented one to go to Las Vegas a few years ago. We rented a convertible in the middle of summer. Vegas? Desert? Hot? Yep, we basically drove as far as we could with the A/C blasting in our faces, but eventually we had to pull over and put the top up. Waaayyyy too hot. But, it was a fun car to drive and with this new model… I could definitely see one winding up in our driveway. Hmmm… this car would definitely put a smile on my husband’s face.
Have you ever owned a Mustang? What year? What color? Would you recommend it?
I was invited to attend this event, but was not required to write about it. No compensation exchanged hands. All opinions and photos are my own.
