Everywhere I look I am surrounded by pregnant women and babies. At my kids’ school. On facebook. On twitter. It seems like every time I turn around, someone either just found out they were expecting or just had a baby. For me… that ship has sailed.
Someday I’ll be a grandmother.
Just not today. Or tomorrow. Or hopefully for many, many, many years to come.
Still…
I think about it often when I see all the babies and cute little clothes and brand new strollers.
Don’t get me wrong… I don’t want another baby of my own. I’d just like to be a grandmother.
I’d like to be able to hold an infant and smell the sweet baby smells. I’d like to take a stroll around the block with a sleeping child and have people ooh and aah over the innocent cuteness. I’d like to be able to shop for adorable little outfits and matching shoes.
I’d like another baby around the house. Just not MY house.
It’s been years since I’ve had a baby and it will be many more years until I have a grandbaby.
But to tell you the truth… I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m right there with ya! Some of my friends are still having babies so I get to love on them and smell their sweet little heads. Then I get to give them back to their parents when they cry or have a dirty diaper. I love it! My oldest is 10 so I have quiet a bit of time before I’m a grandmother and I’m actually looking forward to it too! I see how fun my mother and my mother in law have buying the girls clothes, etc. I can’t wait!
There is simply no word wonderful enough to describe being a Grandmother. I know-5 times! It is the icing on the cake of family life.
