I love when I hear people dissing Mommy Bloggers. It happens all the time. They call us trivial, unimportant, a passing fad. Hah! Keep talking. Why? Because we aren’t going anywhere. I started blogging a few years ago but didn’t hear the term Mommy Blogger until last year. What the heck is a Mommy Blogger? Well, to put it simply it’s any mother who has a blog and can write worth a darn.
And why do I love when people diss us? Because they just don’t have a clue the kind of power we can wield.
Mothers basically control everything that goes on inside their home and with their family. Okay, I know the Dads feel like they have some say (they have “some”) but it’s really the mothers who make the final decisions on schools, activities, food, where to shop, what to buy, what to wear, where to vacation, what car to drive, what shampoo, soap, shoes, dog food, landscaping, hair color, exercise…. whew… I’m tired just thinking about it.
Make a mother happy and guess what? She will gladly sing your praises up and down and all around. Her friends will know about it. Her friends’ friends will know about it. And so on and so on. But just like good news spreads… bad news spreads even faster. Make a mother unhappy and she won’t stop until she has made sure everyone knows about it.
Okay… I sound angry and bitter. I’m really not. But my point is that Mommy Bloggers are spreading the word… good or bad… about everything that effects them on a daily basis. And as we all have learned… social media isn’t going away anytime soon.
So Companies, Businesses, Products and People… watch how you treat us Mommy Bloggers. You just might need us one day.
