In about 7 hours, Spring Break will have officially begun. Well, at least for 2 out of 3 kids. Because different school districts means different break schedules. And that just sucks.
They will all be off next week and as a parent, I look to this with both relief and trepidation. Relief that I don’t have to struggle with morning wake-ups and teeth brushing challenges and no matching socks and the dreaded what-to-pack-for-lunch dilemma. The trepidation comes from wondering how I’m going to get all MY work done (since once we grab that college diploma in hand, spring break grinds to a halt for us) with 3 people in my house who feel it is their mother’s job to entertain them for a week. And, by entertain, I mean taking them to lunch, buying them clothes, driving them to Magic Mountain, and giving them my 100% undivided attention. Sounds great… but at the end of the week, I will still have a pile of work that hasn’t been accomplished, an empty bank account, and a desperate need for a Spring Break of my own.
So, bear with me, because I have a feeling blog posts won’t get written, emails won’t get answered and the house will go to pot. Check back with me the Monday AFTER Spring Break… and count the wine bottles that will be casually tossed in the recycle bin out back. There will be many.
Oh boy, I feel your pain. My kids spring break is almost over and it’s been a crazy week so far. I wish I had my own spring break as well.
Good luck!
