There is no closet organization in our house. None. I really shouldn’t complain. I realize people are living on the streets, having their homes foreclosed, losing jobs, going hungry. My heart goes out to them… and I am absolutely willing to help in any way I can. That said… I’m still going to complain. About my closet. It’s small. Ridiculously small. And I have no idea what to do about it.
We live in a pretty decent house. We have 1800 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. We have a large garage and a family room we converted into a home office. What we don’t have is storage space. Seriously… for a home this size, we have a huge storage deficit.
This is our bedroom closet. We only have the one. It’s in the bathroom. There are TWO of us who use this closet and there are NO other closets on the entire second level of our house.
I realize this is embarrassing. I realize this is pathetic. I realize this can’t continue. We have NO ROOM! I need help. Closet help. Seriously, we can’t afford to hire a closet organizer who will come and redo the entire space, as much as I would like to. We need some super affordable and DIY ideas to reorganize this mess. Please don’t tell me we need to get rid of things. This is the tiniest closet and we really don’t have that many clothes. We’ve cleared away the old and what we have is exactly what we really need.
Can anyone help us?

Hey, isn’t that MY closet?!
The one thing that recently helped me when I had this similar prob was to buy some of those clear plastic little 3 drawers, like 12.99 at Target. That way I could at-least get socks, bras, etc, in those. From there, I also have moved in a small chest of drawers/dresser inside mine. I understand your dilemma that you don’t want to thrown stuff out, either. Good luck!
I have a huge dresser in the bedroom for all my folded things and undergarments so that isn’t an issue. I do, however, need to figure out a way to fit all my hanging clothes, shoes and purses in there… along with my husband’s things (minus the purses for him). Actually, my mother offered to come over and help me. We’ll see how that goes.
Get rid of MORE stuff. Okay, I know you don’t want to hear that, but do you really, honestly wear ALL of the clothes in your closet? We actually have a smaller closet than yours, no really we do, and I had to get serious about what to keep and what to part with. Mine is still a work in progress and I’m basically no help to you, but I can’t wait to see the “after” pictures when somebody else does.
