Today it’s all about David. Not me, not the kids, not the dog… just David. Sigh!
Mother’s Day was great. I got breakfast in bed, had a chance to go to the Rose Bowl Flea Market without the kids, then we had dinner with the family. Not too shabby. Plus, David also got me the most awesome gift ever. On Father’s Day, he usually gets the short end of the stick.
I must admit, I haven’t been the greatest wife when it comes to celebrating Father’s Day. The kids make the usual homemade gifts and cards and I make breakfast, although it is usually at the dining table instead of in bed. That’s about it. It ends up being just an average day.
Not this year. This year I needed to do something bigger, grander, extra-special. Quick… think of the creepiest, scariest movie you know! Deliverance!
I got him Banjo Lessons!
Okay, okay… you don’t need to laugh. I’m serious.
David bought a banjo ages ago thinking he was going to take lessons and really learn to play. He took one lesson. Well, maybe it was two. Three tops. He never picked up the instrument again. Well… let me tell you… he is going to be picking it up again. Very soon. He is going to take lessons if it kills him. Besides, they are already paid for.
