It’s only taken a month, but the master bedroom floor is DONE! Yes, we did the entire thing ourselves. Yes, we were unprepared for some of the things we needed. For instance, we needed all kinds of tools that we didn’t have. Lucky for us, David just loves to hang out at Lowe’s so any chance for him to stop on by and pick up some new tools was a thrill ride for him.
I really love how it came out. After the learning curve, it went pretty fast and you can totally do the entire floor in a day… if you’ve got nothing else going on in your life. The trick is to make sure you have everything you need BEFORE you start. And you definitely need to work with someone since it really is a two-person job.
Would I do it again? Yes. I think the money we saved in labor was worth it.
Next project: Painting the furniture.
We just did the same thing! The first time we did flooring it took us a week. This time it took us 1 1/2 days. You get quicker as you do it more often, and you can’t beat the savings. I’m painting furniture, too. Must keep each other motivated during the holiday season so we get our master bedrooms done! Miss you oodles. 🙂
