I love using our Barbecue, especially during the summer when the kids want to eat outside and the thought of turning on my kitchen oven doesn’t exactly excite me after a long, hot day. Aside from the usual grilled fare: hot dogs, burgers and chicken, I like to try grilling foods that you don’t normally think of as outdoor cooking food. This time, I wanted to try making pizza on the grill. I know, I know, pizza isn’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind when someone says BBQ, but pizza is super easy, super inexpensive and super delicious. It’s a meal the entire family can enjoy and the kids can actually participate in. Of course, I went shopping for ingredients at Smart & Final.
Ingredients:
Pizza Dough - I usually use store bought ready-made dough, but feel free to make your own.
First Street Shredded Mozzarella Cheese - 2 lb.
First Street Original Pasta Sauce
Olive Oil
Kosher Salt
Pizza Toppings: Vegetables, Pepperoni, Sausage, Ground Beef, etc.
I like to start by preparing my toppings. For my pizza I always use grilled vegetables because they are full of flavor and are just plain healthier. I used mushrooms and peppers for this recipe. Chop up the toppings to your liking and coat with olive oil and kosher salt. To grill the vegetables, use a fish/vegetable grill pan that has slots in it. Put on a preheated grill on a medium flame. Grill just until the vegetables are soft and have those pretty grill marks on them. Set aside.
Prepare your pizza dough. If your dough has been refrigerated, bring to room temperature before you roll it out. Cold dough doesn’t roll as well and will take longer to cook. For a more even dough, you can use a rolling pin. For a more rustic look, just use your hands.
Once the dough is rolled out it can go onto the grill. I highly recommend using some kind of grill spray so the dough doesn’t stick. Once the bread is cooked, it should pop off the grill easily. Grill only on the one side until the bottom is well toasted. The top will be cooked through but will remain softer. Take off the grill to cool.
Layer the pizza crust with First Street Original Pasta Sauce, First Street Mozzarella Cheese and your toppings of choice. Once fully prepped, the pizza will go back on the grill at the lowest setting for about 3 - 5 minutes. Cook with the cover down until the cheese is completely melted.
Enjoy!

I grew up with Rocky’s Pizza on Seven Mile Road in Detroit Michigan and always remember the bubled pizza dough and have craved it even since to no avail. I see from your reciepe that by hand rolling, the bubles will create themselves and add to the taste of the fresh pizza. I love shopping at Smart and Final as it meets my limited needs 100 per cent today, not like the old days when they mainly catered to commerical needs, great mix today!

Great,it looks delicious.how about trying a the new barbecue that grill, bake, and smoke.but you use wood pellets. The natural smokey flavor of apple wood flavor will enhance the taste of your vegetables .the capability of a hight heat that acts as a convection oven it will cook at 400 degree. The taste of the piza is out this world.
