The 52 Week Money Challenge

Sign me up for the 52 Week Money Challenge.

I have a list of things I want to purchase this year. I’m sure you all do as well, but if you take a look at my bank account, you’d realize that my odds of getting anything on this list is pretty dim. We all waste money… lots of it. I know I do. I’ve drastically given up going to Starbucks and spending major amounts of money on coffee, but there are probably a million other little things I could give up to save my money for the things I really want to buy.

I know you’ve probably seen this image floating around the internet in one form or another. I have no idea where this originally started, but I downloaded this one from Couponing to be Debt Free. I’ve decided to take the 52 Week Money Challenge. It’s really very simple. Each week of the year, you put away the amount of money of the corresponding week. For instance… week 12 you put away $12. So easy. I know a lot of people are actually doing it in reverse - starting with week 52 and working backwards. I’m going to play it straight and start with week 1.

I’m not a huge couponer and I’m really bad at checking all the grocery circulars for deals, but I realize that saving a few bucks here and there can make a HUGE difference in the bottom line. And I need my bottom to be really, really big. Well… you know what bottom I’m talking about, right?

Anybody else want to do this with me? It’s so simple. I know by the end of the year we can save $1,378.00.

I did this last year, worked out well. I also added extra change every week from my purse and extra change Scott had. I’m doing it again!
