It’s pretty simple, really. You get Valentine’s Day gifts and treats… you’ll wind up loving V-Day. You get nothing… well, you get the idea.
I can’t say I’ve ever really had an exceptional Valentine’s Day. It’s pretty low-key around our house. We exchange cards and this year I got the kids some small gifts they wanted. We each got one rose and I did manage to cut the kids’ sandwiches into hearts. That’s about it. The kids will hand out their store-bought V-Day cards at school and I’m pretty sure they’ll be out of control by tonight with all the sugar they’ll eat today. I’ll spend the day doing the same things I do every day: write, clean, shop, cook. By tomorrow, all the candy will be 50% off at Walmart and See’s Candies won’t have lines out the door. Until Mother’s Day.
Of course it’s a Hallmark-created holiday. But is that such a bad thing? I kind of like the idea of having a day to remember the people you love. And come on, who is really forcing anyone to go buy expensive cards and gifts? I mean, you can always make something yourself. I’m pretty sure Pinterest is full of ideas.
Whatever you do to celebrate… or not… love is in the air.

I am laughing at hearing all the things the guys here at work are doing our did do for their ladies, cars full of roses and candy and balloons, Alaskan king crab legs and steak dinner….I am simple I guess, I was happy with my text this morning!
Happy Valentine’s day my friend!
I have a love hate relationship with Valentine’s Day. Some years I want nothing to do with it and then other years, like this one, I’m really into it.
Usually our Valentine’s Day is not a big deal, but this year my parents offered (without me hinting) to watch the kids so we can go out and enjoy. Downside? we found out yesterday and have no reservations. It is a hallmark holiday, but once you get into it you love it! 😀
We are so low key with Valentine’s Day here at our house. Hubby got me roses and we both got Ellie ballons and candy. We ate pizza and chocolate covered Strawberry’s. To be honest, I kinda like it that way. We remind each other how much we love them and just spend time together.
My husband offered to take me out to dinner last night but I said I’d rather just eat at home with the kids.
