I think it’s pretty safe to say that FROZEN has topped my list of all-time favorite Disney animated movies. I wasn’t one of the first to see it. I wasn’t invited to the previews or premiers. There was no sneak peak for me, like there might be for other movies. I waited until it opened in the theaters like everyone else. We weren’t first in line the weekend it opened, and we didn’t even make it the weekend it opened. I first saw all the social media reviews about it before I stepped foot in the theater. People were saying it was amazing, their favorite. I had doubts. I usually don’t end up liking movies that everyone else thinks are the best.
I walked into the theater not expecting much, but what I walked out with was the feeling that I just saw Disney magic. FROZEN wasn’t just any movie for me… it was a confirmation for me that the bond of sisters was one of the strongest around.
I have three daughters. This after not growing up with a sister myself. I felt I missed out, didn’t have that strong sibling connection. My girls would be the best of friends, they would adore each other, and support and protect each other. Little did I know that having three girls would consist of some of the worst arguing, fighting, and competition I’ve ever seen. Like Anna and Elsa, sisters don’t always have it easy. But, in the end they only have each other.
When I told my youngest that the movie was being released, she was so excited. Almost as excited as I was. Because I didn’t want to buy it for my kids… I wanted it for ME. The day it came out… we made a beeline for Walmart.
Apparently, we weren’t the only ones. They were restocking movies like crazy and there were little girls dressed up in costumes anxiously dragging their mothers by the hand to pick up their own copy.
After Lauryn picked out her Blu-Ray copy, we just had to go over to the toy section to see what awesome FROZEN toys there were. We’re pretty big doll fans in our house so Anna and Elsa were all we could think about. You have no idea how happy we were that we found Anna.
We also found a few other items that were unexpected.
Knowing my kid… she wasn’t going home without coloring books and stickers.
Of course, Anna had to be completely unwrapped while we drove home… because we have no patience in my house. I’m pretty sure the coloring book, sticker book and Anna doll went to school with Lauryn hiding in her backpack.
So, yes, we are watching FROZEN for the gazillionth time… because I (I mean, we) can’t get enough of it. And I’m pretty sure I’ll be crying for the gazillionth time at the end when Anna and Elsa hug (oh come on… who hasn’t seen it yet?) because I can’t seem to watch this movie without thinking of my own daughters. And my hope is that one day they will realize that they only have each other… because there is no stronger bond than between sisters. It doesn’t matter what they fight about now, or that they are competitive, because in the end… you just need to LET IT GO!
The FROZEN DVD was released March 18 and is currently on sale at Walmart for $14.96 (down from $16.96). You can also get a coupon for $5 off the FROZEN DVD from specially marked packages of Eggo Waffles (24 count). Now THAT is a great deal… breakfast and a movie. Sounds like the perfect weekend to me.

I think we were all there on release day! I didn’t see some of the things you all found. My little one would have loved the books. I’ll have to look for those next time!
