Last night we had a family date night. To be honest, I can’t even remember the last time we went out just as a family. I mean, just the 5 of us… without other friends or family tagging along. It was nice. Yes, the kids still drove me crazy, but it was nice being together doing something fun for a change. The kids are right… we never do anything fun.
I picked the girls up from school and surprised them with a movie. We went to see “Footloose”. David was working late and since he hasn’t even seen the first one (I know, I can’t believe it myself) we decided we’d just go without him. Just us girls. It was probably a good thing since the entire movie theater was filled with teenage girls.
We all loved the movie and then we met David for dinner. We rarely go out to dinner anymore but we managed to get through the meal with minimal complaining and spilling. I say minimal because the girls did complain about their clam chowder. Unbelievably, they’ve been eating clam chowder for years (and loving it) but once they actually realized it was made with clams, suddenly it’s repulsive. Ha! More for me!
Then… we all grabbed some coffee/tea at the mall and did a little window shopping. I tried on two cute dresses. The first one cost $99 and didn’t fit. The second one cost $256 and did. Just my luck the expensive clothes fit better than the cheap ones. Needless to say, I didn’t buy the dress. I did, however, buy a pair of earrings. Cheap ones. The kind that look great the first time you wear them but then the rhinestones fall out and you realize you just wasted $14 plus tax.
All in all… a pretty good night. Rare with three kids, but I’ll take what I can get.
Have a great weekend!
