It’s December 23, 2010 - and it’s also my birthday. Today I am 25+ years old. Yes, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
A few days ago I was talking with a friend - a much younger friend - and she was talking about her 22 year old friends vs. her 25+ year old friends. I liked it. I wasn’t 30-something, I wasn’t even 40-something. I was 25+. Sounds a whole lot better doesn’t it? So from now on, please refer to my age as 25+.
So let me fill you in on how my day went yesterday.
It was miserable.
I was angry with my husband. (No surprise there.) Why? Because he dared to come home late from work the evening before and asked me the forbidden question… “What’s for dinner?” Now if you are married and have children (I realize some of you don’t, but listen up because someday you will) you know that after a full day of taking care of kids, cleaning the house, doing the laundry, making the kids dinner… the last thing you want to do at 9:30 at night is have to make another dinner for your husband when all you want to do is crawl into bed. I was pissed. So be it.
Back to yesterday…
Still angry with hubby… still raining out (going on day 4 of constant rain here in Los Angeles)… had to take kids to the dentist (not on top of my list of fun things to do)… more cleaning of the house (because with 3 girls there is no such thing as a clean house, or clean dishes, or clean laundry) and the kids were a non-stop treat of yelling, screaming and fighting with each other. I had just about had it. HAD IT!
Luckily hubby got home at a decent hour (I made homemade mac & cheese - a family favorite) and I left the house on time to go have dinner with my girlfriends. Okay… night saved.
Woke up this morning to relative quiet. Usually the girls come barging into my bedroom and wake me up. Today I actually woke up ON MY OWN. I can’t remember the last time I woke up without being woken up. I heard them scurrying around in the kitchen so I knew there must have been some cooking going on in there.
And yes… I got breakfast in bed. French toast, eggs, juice and coffee. With a flower from our rose bush.
Now I had already gotten my birthday present… the Wii Fit… if you didn’t know that you haven’t been reading my blog (shame on you). But… I got another present too. My husband bought me the purse I really wanted. Not the Michael Kors bag that costs $300 - it was the fabric over the shoulder bag that costs $32. I love it!
Last night after dinner, we went into the store where the bag came from to take a look at it because I was really thinking I might just go ahead and buy it for myself. But, the bag wasn’t there anymore which kind of made me sad that I didn’t buy it the first time I saw it. And I kind of hoped a little that maybe hubby had come back and bought it for me… but I didn’t think that was really going to happen. Ha… he DID. He did come back and buy it for me. Cause that’s the kind of guy I’ve got.
So what’s on tap for the rest of the day? I’m finally getting the replacement microwave. I think Mom is taking me to lunch. And I get another evening out with my Hubby… and no children.
And the best gift of all… I’ve gone 2 hours already without having to yell at my kids.
Happy 25+ to me.
OMG I know exactly how you feel about having to make another dinner for your hubby. We don't even have kids and he does that. It's like, you don't have a broken arm, you can make your own dinner!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!!!
25+…it is kinda catchy but may take some getting use to! I like to think I am older and wiser so maybe I will go with 30+.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Awww, Happy 25+ to you! It made my heart happy (as cheesy as it sounds) to know that so many people have that kind of guy in their life, the way I do. :o)
Enjoy the rest of your birthday!
'Cause… that's just the kind of guy I am! Damn straight!
