Amanda finally came home from a week at Science Camp and couldn’t wait to be back in her own bedroom again. Little did she know what she would find…
Remember the BEFORE
and now… the AFTER
Amanda was a happy kid!
So, what did I do? The room was originally painted pink from when Lauryn was occupying the space. Amanda wanted to do away with anything too babyish and too girly, so I went with a light beige wall color and added the turquoise stripe in them middle just for added color and interest. She also needed new bedding, so we bought her a down comforter and added a teal and white duvet cover from Ikea. The furniture also came from Ikea, a desk with a separate white board and shelf, and a bookshelf so she finally had a place to put her books and snow globe collection. I also remembered that I had the turquoise butterfly chair that I had bought on sale at Target last year for $12.00 and had been keeping in the garage all this time.
All in all, the room was completely redone for around $300 – the bulk of which was the furniture. Now that’s what I call a DIY project!
Looks great! I still can’t believe that with all the new furniture and decor you spent only $300, that’s amazing! I love her snow globe collection!
Well, Ikea furniture is pretty inexpensive, and the duvet and butterfly chair were purchased on sale. I tend to buy things when I see them at a great price and just hang on to them for the future. It was fun to do for her.
Looks amazing!!!
Thanks.
Looks great! Congrats on finishing 🙂
Awesome! We’re currently re-doing the boys room to take it from “baby” to “toddler.” Redecorating is such a nice way to celebrate all their life stages.
I have to say I’m a little sad that they are growing up so fast, but it’s fun to be able to surprise them with things they really want.
The room looks beautiful Caroline! I am so happy that Amanda loves it!
Whoa.. love that you completely remodeled the room just 300 dollars. I love seeing these DIY room decorations, and it looks great.
My mom also did this for me when I went on a 3 week vacation and i can home to a completely new room… a good feeling when you finally get that “adult” room you’ve been looking for.
My Mom redid my room when I was on vacation as a kid too. It was great coming home to something new and fresh. Loved it.
OMG – it looks GREAT!! You did so much in such a little amount of time – congrats lady, you are officially SUPER mom 🙂
Looks great! I may ask you for help when I re-do my son’s room.
Would love to help. 🙂
