While I have a great sense of design and color and furniture, I would never really consider myself “crafty”. I do love to scrapbook but I don’t spend every waking moment at the craft store and I don’t have lots of handmade projects decorating my house.
But…
With our upcoming road trip looming, I was thinking about things that would keep the girls comfortable in the car. One thing we never have but always wish we did was pillows. Regular pillows are always so bulky and they are hard to carry in and out of hotel rooms. When I was at Joann’s about a month ago, I found the most adorable penguin fabric and I couldn’t get it out of my mind. What a cute pillow that would make. Sooo…..

That’s right… I actually MADE pillows for all the girls. Cute aren’t they? They are 14 x 14, perfect
size for the car. But for some reason, it got my creative juices flowing and I didn’t stop at just the pillows.

So I ended up making tote bags for them too. Of course, I took the easy way out and bought plain canvas bags with handles. Then I just jazzed them up by sewing on some cute borders and pockets. For the trip I filled them with crayons, paper, gum, craft materials and they’ll put in their books, sunglasses, iPods and Nintendos. Hopefully they won’t be too annoying on our very long drive.
Busy day… off to pack!
