Decorating Flip Flops with Elmer’s Single Painters Paint Markers #GlueNGlitter

by Carolyn West on June 14, 2012

Summer is finally here and the kids are out of school. Now the fun begins… or rather, the fun trying to figure out what I’m going to do with them all summer. My kids are really creative so any kind of crafting usually fits the bill. I really wanted to experiment more with Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers and the opportunity to decorate flip flops came across my email and I knew this was something the kids would really enjoy.

We are definitely a flip flop family. Between the pool and the heat in the summer, they are the easiest and cheapest ways to protect our feet. When looking to see what we had left over from last year, all I found was this mess of a pile.

Old flip flops.

Not even matched pairs of most of them. We definitely need some flip flop help. I made a trip to Walmart to pick up some new flip flops and some more Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers Singles. Love them! Only $1.97 each. My kind of crafting. You can see my entire shop on Google+.

Once I had my supplies ready, I gathered the kids and my niece so we could get our creativity on.

I knew I wanted to do some animal prints so I went online to get an idea of what they really look like.

Came out pretty cute, huh? I think I even surprised myself. I love these zebra prints. And now on to giraffe prints.

Giraffe pictures.

I had my giraffe inspiration and worked from there.

I am so psyched to wear my new shoes. Since they were painted on, I’m planning on leaving them overnight to dry just to make 100% sure they don’t rub off or smear. I was just as happy with the designs the kids did. They are all so talented and creative.

If you want to decorate your own flip flops this summer, pick up some Elmer’s Single Painter’s Markers and make sure you send me some pics of the ones you create. I’d love to see them.

Thanks Melissa. We really had a great time doing it. The kids want me to go buy more flip flops so they can keep painting.

Those are so cute!! I can’t wait to have girls so I can do fun stuff like this. My boy won’t even wear flip flops…but I may need to make some giraffe ones for myself…

My nephew was here and actually wanted to paint some too, but I didn’t have a color he would wear – only picked up pretty colors for my girls.

I always wanted animal print flip flops. I guess when you can’t find them, you do it yourself.

Take a look at Michael’s and Joanne’s as well – they were all on sale for $1.00 – $1.50 a pair.

What a cute idea, I have never seen this craft before! I do have those pens though stuffed away in some craft box in my house.
