I admit, I don’t always follow through on my lofty plans to participate in charitable events. In theory, I really want to get more involved and give back to my community, but reality sets in and there is always something else going on with the family, work, etc. I first heard about The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project about a year ago through some local women I met online. I’ve since been getting to know them better and learning more about this amazing organization. I wrote a post about them a while back so go take a look and see what they are all about. Then come back here and see what they are up to now. Go…. I’ll wait.
On August 7th, an incredible event will be held in Santa Clarita, California – Comics for the Cause. I have my tickets and am so excited to attend. I’m breaking my rule about posting press releases, but I believe in this organization so much that I want everyone to know about it.

Happy to help.” Comedian John Heffron said. “It’s all coming together so incredibly well and I am honored that all of this talent is coming together just for us. All I did is ask. That’s pretty awesome.” Executive Director, Kim Goldman stated when asked about how this event came about. “In tough economic times, we need all the help we can get in order to continue to provide free services to teens; this event is going to be amazing for so many reasons.” Goldman said.
The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project is celebrating 12 years of successfully providing free services to teens in the Santa Clarita Valley. Since their doors opened in 2000, the Youth Project has assisted more than 33,000 local families, including 29,000 youth and 5,500 adults. In 2011/2012, with services on six high schools and seven junior high campuses, the SCV Youth Project provided more than 8000 hours of service to the young adults in the Santa Clarita Valley with serious life challenges, including depression, suicide, grief/loss, peer pressure, bullying and drug/alcohol abuse, said Kim Goldman, executive director.
“The generosity of the comics is amazing and what a great new event for Santa Clarita. They always say that laughing is good for the soul, this time it will also be great for our kids.” Board President, Jerry Citarella stated.
